Reminder, in the first match, Dmitro Mykhaylyenko's team confidently defeated Albania (3:0), and in the second they overcame Montenegro with the same score — 3:0. After these victories, blue-and-yellow secured their place in the elite round, which will take place next spring. At the same time, in the final group stage match, Ukraine and Slovakia had to determine the winner of the group. The coaching staff of our team did not change the lineup compared to the previous game.

The first half was played on even terms, but Ukrainians were sharper and much more effective. The first two goals came from set pieces. On the 17th minute, Bogdanov, after a corner kick from the right flank from about seven meters out, headed the ball into the upper corner. And at the 33rd minute, Dyhtyar doubled the score, also after a corner kick, heading the ball in off the crossbar from close range — 2:0.

And just before halftime, Kaminsky skillfully ran past several opponents and passed to Popov. Our forward won the position, collected the ball, and a Slovak defender, trying to stop him, sliced it into his own goal.

In the second half, the teams exchanged sharp attacks, but the score did not change further. The Ukraine national team secured their third consecutive convincing "clean sheet" victory — 3:0 — and finished the qualifying round in first place with a perfect record.
