The head coach of Ukraine's U-15 national team (players born in 2011 or later), Volodymyr Samborskyi, has shared the plans for the current training camp.
The youngest national youth team of Ukraine, U-15, has started a training camp during which they will participate in UEFA's Development Tournament from December 17 to 22 in Portugal.
Before the start of this camp, the head coach of the blue and yellow team, Volodymyr Samborskyi, answered questions on the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF).
— Mr. Volodymyr, did you call up the strongest players for the UEFA Development Tournament, or is this a selection camp?
— To say now that these 14- and 15-year-old boys are the strongest at present would not be entirely correct. We have called up those players who have shown themselves during the first round in their respective teams, as well as foreign-based players about whom we have sufficient information. Although there are still many footballers on our radar that we continue to monitor. This process, especially at this age, does not stop.
This is the first international camp for this team, so it was difficult for us to decide on certain positions. The squad is being formed, so I wouldn't say that all the strongest players are here now. But we hope that our boys won't be intimidated and will showcase their best qualities.
— Given what you said, what tasks will you set for the team?
— Every athlete who wants to achieve something should always strive for victory. However, of course, results are not our main goal.
— Greece, Ireland and Portugal also just started their journey, or are they more experienced if I may ask?
— So far we only have information about the Irish team, which has already played several matches, while we will study the other opponents during the games. But nothing to be afraid of, we will try to stick to our game and principles that we aim to instill in our players. Individually, we have decent performers; the main thing is to mentally prepare the team.
