Today in Viareggio, Italy, the men's national beach soccer team of Ukraine started their season's most important tournament — the EuroLeague-2025 Superfinal.

The first opponent for coach Mykola Kostenko’s squad in Group B was Switzerland.

In the opening period, the battle was even, but Ukraine capitalized on a few dangerous moments. On the 7th minute, Oleksandr Poslavsky scored an own goal from his team's net, and Anton Ross adjusted the ball into the goal — 1:0. Three minutes later, Andriy Pashko received a pass in the central zone and powerfully shot to double Ukraine’s lead. Near the end of the period, Poslavsky demonstrated impressive reflexes by parrying Glenn Hodel's bicycle kick.

In the second 12-minute period, Grigory Yarmak had a great chance to score but his header from close range was saved by Switzerland’s goalkeeper. Pashko did not miss from a set play and on the 19th minute extended our team's lead to three goals. Unfortunately, an unforced error by Andriy Potapov near his own goal led to Hodel scoring, reducing Switzerland's deficit — 1:3.

In the third period, Ivan Glutsyk scored on a good pass from Ross at the 29th minute — 4:1. The Swiss responded with a successful shot by Philipp Borer. At the 31st minute, Switzerland were reduced to four players due to Sandro Spakka's penalty. With two minutes of numerical advantage, Ukraine scored their fifth goal — Dmitro Voytok was on target. Despite this, the Swiss fought until the end and Borer’s two goals gave hope to his teammates.

On the last seconds, a crossbar saved Ukraine. Ultimately, 5:4 — a hard-fought victory for Ukraine's national team.
