Today, November 12, Ukraine's U-19 national team (players born in 2007 and younger) started their qualification round for Euro 2026. The tournament is taking place in Albania.
The blue-and-yellow team actively began the game, earning several promising set pieces. After a penalty kick on the ninth minute, the first goal-scoring opportunity arose: Bogdanov headed from the goalkeeper's line, but Albanian goalkeeper saved it. Later, Redushko dangerously shot from distance. Despite their advantage, they failed to score an early goal.
However, constant pressure on the opponent’s goal paid off before halftime. At the 34th minute, after a throw-in by Reshetnikov, he made a precise cross, Bogdanov headed it in, and Redushko sealed the far post — 1:0.
After halftime, Albanians tried to change the situation and pushed forward more actively, but careful play of Ukrainians near their own goal neutralized all attempts by the opponent. Midway through the second half, blue-and-yellow doubled their lead — once again Redushko was in the spotlight. First, Bogdan broke away from the goalkeeper, but he couldn't outplay him. But just two minutes later, Redushko won a penalty on the left flank which proved to be decisive: Malov made an accurate pass, and Bogdanov secured the position, passing the ball to Popov who scored past the goalkeeper from the goalkeeper's line.
Two minutes before the end of regular time, Ukrainians launched a swift counterattack — Bogdanov provided his second assist, and Kaminsky put the finishing touch on the combination. 3:0 — blue-and-yellow started their qualification with a convincing victory. In parallel match in our group Slovakia also won against Montenegro with the same score (3:0), so currently there is a tie for first place.
The next match of coach Dmitry Mykhaylenko's team will be on November 15 against Montenegro (kickoff at 1 p.m. Kyiv time).
