Iceland and France, who are rivals of the Ukrainian national team in Group D of the European qualification for the 2026 World Cup, played against each other.

In the first half of the match in Reykjavik, Didier Deschamps' team had the initiative, but without injured Kylian Mbappé their shots lacked accuracy in the final phase. Instead, a single shot on goal by Iceland led to a goal. Viktor Palsson scored at the 39th minute.

After halftime, the advantage of the tricolor team was eventually taken by Iceland, and Christopher Nkunku and Jean-Philippe Mateta put the visitors ahead. However, on the 70th minute Christian Gudjohnsen managed to restore parity — 2:2.
