Nominal home match for Oleksandr Melnyk's wards took place in the Slovenian city of Maribor at the «Fazaneria» stadium. They started very well. In the 8th minute, Ivan Losenko made a fantastic vertical pass almost halfway down the field, and Artem Stepanov lobbed the ball over the Hungarian goalkeeper — 1:0.

The Ukrainians continued to dominate, but a single mistake led to a goal against them. Nazar Dumchak fouled Chendal Denesi in their own penalty area, and the referee pointed to the spot. Mate Tuboly's shot was successful — 1:1.

The counterattack tactic brought another success to our opponents in the second half. On the 60th minute, Adi Mollnar broke through on the right flank into our penalty area and with a powerful shot scored past Taras Mykhavko and Nazar Domchak.

However, at the 75th minute, Andriy Matviychuk outsmarted the Hungarian defenders, emerged from behind their backs, and aimed the ball into an empty net, equalizing the score. Nevertheless, five minutes later, Hungary's national team once again took the lead. After executing a set piece, the ball bounced to Noah Fenyő who then scored his third goal against our goalkeeper. Five more minutes passed before our captain Illia Khrups'kyi scored an excellent shot into the top corner, restoring parity. So, 3:3 — a hard-fought draw.

The next match in the Euro-2027 (U-21) qualifiers for Ukraine will be played on October 14 against Croatia's national team.
