Yesterday in the first match in Jonava, Oleksandr Kosenko's wards crushed the Lithuanians with a score of 7:0. In today's game, however, the opponent put up more resistance. Despite Ukraine's significant territorial and playing advantage in the first half, it was the home team that opened the scoring. On the 7th minute, Justinas Zagurskas outplayed our goalkeeper Yurii Savenko from a set piece. Nevertheless, attacks by the Ukrainian national team eventually paid off. On the 14th minute, Artem Fareniyuk equalized with an excellent shot from an acute angle, and just one minute later, Andriy Melnyk executed a great set play — 2:1. Two minutes before halftime, Danyil Abakshin scored the third goal for Ukraine from close range.

The second half was a continuation of the first. The Ukrainians attacked frequently and had several good opportunities to score, but Lithuania's goalkeeper played exceptionally well. However, on the 34th minute, Edgaras Baranauskas scored in one of Lithuania’s few counterattacks, narrowing his team's deficit. But just 30 seconds later, a brilliant combination by Ukraine led to Mikhail Zvarych scoring into an almost empty net — 5:2. Just another minute later, Melnyk capitalized on a mistake by the Lithuanians. So, 5:3 — victory for Ukraine.
