The head coach of Ukraine's youth team (players born in or after 2010) Volodymyr Samborskyi spoke about the plans for the upcoming training camp.

Training will begin on September 22 for Ukraine's youngest national team (U-16), during which the blue-and-yellow team will play two friendly matches: against Metalist 1925 (U-17) on the 23rd and against Kolos (U-19) on the 27th.

Ahead of this work, head coach Volodymyr Samborskyi answered questions from the official website of the UAF.

Mr. Volodymyr, what are the plans for the team during this training camp besides the two friendlies?

— This is the second training camp in the history of this team. The first time the team gathered last December to participate in an international tournament with almost no preparatory process. Now I would call future work more educational and selection-oriented. This is Ukraine's youngest national team, so we need to keep our finger on the pulse constantly. We have the opportunity to train outside UEFA dates, so thank you to the clubs that released their players.

Regarding your question, during the week we will be getting acquainted with the boys, seeing who and how is meeting the demands, principles of play by the coaching staff, and how the players adapt in the national team.

— It's clear that it was difficult to call up players from abroad for this camp. But how many such players are on your radar?

— There are quite a few of them. I would say more than one dozen. And now we are going through, so to speak, the selection process at a distance. We talk with the boys and their parents who send us videos of their games, so for now this is how we get acquainted.

— Regarding the friendlies. If Metalist 1925 will be practically one-year-olds, then Kolos are three years older. Was this done on purpose?

— Yes. We will play against the Kovalevskiy team on the last day of training camp after three full days of training. I want to see how our players think on the field in comparison with older footballers, how they make decisions and show character. I am sure that such a friendly match will be very beneficial for this Ukrainian national team.
