Today, on August 28, the draw for the main stage of UEFA Champions League took place. Thirty-six participating teams were divided into four pots according to their individual ranking.

For a second consecutive season, this stage of the Champions League features not a traditional group stage but a single-league format that includes all participating teams. Each club received two opponents from each pot and will play eight matches — four home and four away — against different opponents.

Players from Ukraine's national team will participate in this prestigious European club tournament: Illia Zabarnyi ("Paris Saint-Germain"), Anatolii Trubin ("Benfica"), Roman Yaremchuk ("Olympiacos"), Andriy Lunin ("Real Madrid"), Oleksandr Zinchenko ("Arsenal").

The eight best teams in the league will automatically advance to the round of 16, while teams finishing from ninth to 24th place will compete in two-legged playoffs for spots in the round of 16. Teams finishing from 25th to 36th place will end their European competition.

The first round of the main stage will take place on September 16-17. The full Champions League calendar with match dates will be published no later than August 30. The tournament final will be hosted by Hungary for the first time.
