After the defeat in the opening match of UEFA Euro 2026 against the team from Armenia (1:2), Oleksandr Kosenko's wards will face Lithuania in a difficult match. The opponent occupies the 35th position in the UEFA ranking and for the first time in its history, it qualified as one of the hosts to the European Championship.

The national team has only participated in one World Cup. In 2021, they entered the final stage of the tournament as host. The Lithuanian national team finished last in Group A, losing to Venezuela (1:2), Kazakhstan (0:3) and Costa Rica (2:6).

The Lithuanian national team is a two-time winner of the Baltic Cup (2017, 2021).

It should be noted that in preparation for UEFA Euro 2026, Ukraine's national team played two friendly matches against Lithuania in September last year. In the first match, the yellow and blue won with a score of 7:0, while in the second more intense battle, they won with a score of 5:3.
