The 8th round of the Ukrainian Premier League season-2025/2026 has concluded, with all three leaders — Shakhtar, Dynamo Kyiv, and Kolos — losing points in their home matches.

Kolos failed to score against Ruh (0:2), while Shakhtar suffered its first defeat of the season — from Chernihiv's LNZ with a score of 1:4. In turn, Dynamo played their fourth consecutive draw this time against Metalist 1925 (1:1). One point was not enough to return to the top of the league table.

Despite setbacks, the miners remain leaders, ahead of Dynamo and Kryvbas by a single point. The charges of Patrick van Leeuwen took advantage of Kryvyi Rih's misfortune, beat Kudrivka (3:1), and entered the top three. In this match, Venezuelan forward Mendosa scored two goals for the Kryvorizhzhane, bringing his goal tally to five and now leading the scoring race.

The players called up by Serhiy Rebrov for matches of Ukraine's under-21 team against Iceland (October 10, Reykjavik) and Azerbaijan (October 13, Krakow): in Dynamo Kyiv's squad — Mykhailo Shaparenko (substituted on the 75th minute), Volodymyr Brahtsyo (came on as a substitute on the 75th minute), Nazar Voloshyn (goal scorer); in Shakhtar's squad — Dmytro Riznyk, Valeri Bondar, Mykhailo Matviienko, Yurim Konoplia and Artem Bondarenko (substituted on the 57th minute); in Metalist 1925's squad — Ivan Kaliuzhniy; in Polissya's squad — Bohdan Mykhailichenko, Oleksiy Hutsulak (came on as a substitute on the 46th minute), Oleksandr Nazarenko (came on as a substitute on the 61st minute), Vladyslav Velentyn (goal scorer, substituted on the 68th minute).

The next, 9th round of the UPL will start on Friday, October 17 and last four days.
