Today, November 29, the Ukrainian women's national team WU-17 played their second match in the first round of qualification for Euro-2026 (WU-17) — against Austria.

Coach Lyudmila Lemesko’s team lost to Switzerland (0:1) in their first qualifying tournament match. Today, our girls faced Austrian counterparts in the Romanian city of Buftea.

The match was played on a difficult wet pitch under foggy weather conditions. In the first half, the Austrians initially took the initiative and on the 11th minute Sofia Zöger scored with a long-range shot to open the scoring. After that, Ukrainians became more active and created several good opportunities in front of the opposing goal. However, they failed to score, while two costly mistakes near halftime led to Elizabeth Emeghiri doubling the lead — 0:3.

After the break, both teams had chances to change the score, but only the Austrians managed to do so. Maya Lampel came face-to-face with our goalkeeper and scored. So, 0:4 — a loss for the Ukrainian team.

The Ukrainian women's national team will play their next Euro-2026 (WU-17) qualifier against Romania on December 2.
