Today, November 28 at the Municipal Stadium "Chapín" in Jerez, Spain, Ukraine's women's national team played their opening match of the She Plays-2025 tournament.
The opponents of head coach Volodymyr Pyatenko were Scotland. In the first half, the initiative was held by the visitors who created several dangerous moments in front of our goal. However, goalkeeper Kateryna Samson played extremely well. On the other hand, a single counterattack from Ukraine led to a goal. Roxolana Kravchuk scored on the 37th minute.

After halftime, Scotland did not give up trying to score but the blue and yellow defense remained solid until the final seconds. However, on the sixth minute of added time Maria Makinen managed to push the ball into our net. Therefore, a draw - 1:1.

As a reminder, the FIFA Council approved that the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil will take place from June 24 to July 25. Of the 32 spots available, 29 direct berths will be distributed as follows:
The remaining three spots will be determined in a playoff tournament featuring ten national teams. It will consist of two stages with the following quotas:
The first stage of the playoff tournament will take place in October—December 2026, and the second one in February 2027.
The European qualifiers will take place over three stages. Group stage matches will be held on March 3rd and 7th, April 14th and 18th, June 5th and 9th, 2026 in three leagues — A (16 teams), B (16) and C (21).
The starting position of each team in the leagues is determined based on the results of the Nations League-2025. Ukraine will compete in League A.
Four group winners from League A will qualify directly for Euro 2027.
The remaining spots will be contested in playoff rounds in October—December 2026. In the first round, teams finishing second and third in League A will play against the group winners of six groups from League C and the best runners-up from those groups.
Four teams finishing fourth in League A and four group winners from League B will face off against the second- and third-placed teams from League B, respectively. Eight winners will advance to the second round.
In the second round, 16 teams will meet in eight pairs. Seven of the best winners will qualify for Euro 2027, while the eighth team will have to participate in a continental playoff.
