From November 26 to December 2 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the first round of Euro-2026 (WU-19) Group L will take place, where Ukraine's women's youth national team will face the hosts as well as teams from Romania and San Marino.

The head coach of the blue-and-yellow team, Oleg Bortnyk, commented on the official website of the UAF about the latest news regarding the team:

— Before leaving for the Balkans, we held a short training session in Uzhhorod. Almost all players who trained under my leadership at the end of August during the camp in Trostyanets were called up, including three foreign-based players.

— It is recalled that then your wards even managed to play a few friendlies. And now?

— We planned to play against the local 'Minay', but the Zakarpattya team unexpectedly went on vacation, so we had to limit ourselves to training.

On the other hand, there was no urgent need for a friendly match since all called-up players have sufficient playing practice at their club level. By the way, it was precisely playing experience that was prioritized when determining potential candidates for the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. That's why the largest representation in the squad is from 'Ladomir' of the top division, which is mainly composed of young players.

— Were personnel losses avoided?

— Unfortunately, Anastasiya Tarasenko from 'Ladomir' and Anastasiya Zhigadlo from 'Kryvbas', on whom I relied heavily, are injured.

— Who do you consider the main rivals in the fight for a place among the strongest?

— In my possession, there are only video recordings of recent friendly matches between Romanians and Swedes. Our geographical neighbors made quite an impression.

We will get to know the other tournament participants directly during the matches. The seriousness of the intentions of the hosts is evidenced by the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be hosting next summer's Euro in this age category.

However, this does not scare us off. In Uzhhorod, we practiced several tactical schemes and aim to surprise our opponents with home preparations. The attitude is maximum seriousness, while the mood is combative.
