European recognition of Ukrainian licensing

On September 25, the planned audit of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA) according to UEFA's Club Licensing Quality Standard (CLQS) took place with the aim of verifying compliance with the requirements set out in the CLQS.

Every year, an independent certification body approved by UEFA evaluates the UFA regarding its compliance with all CLQS requirements. If these requirements are met, the certification body issues a certificate valid for one season.

It is pleasant to note that this year saw the introduction of a confidentiality agreement between UEFA, SGS Geneva, and each licensee for the first time. This measure aims to promote transparency and increase confidence among UEFA member associations in the exchange of information with auditors.

Another innovation of the 2025 audit was questions regarding national women's club competitions, which concerned media rights, commercialization of broadcast rights, as well as the financial environment of women's competitions and so on.

Based on the results of the one-day audit, positive conclusions were reached with short-term outcomes and a preliminary recommendation from the independent auditor SGS, who noted the stability of the UFA’s club licensing system in achieving its goals despite the challenges faced by Ukrainian football today.
