The Ukraine futsal team defeated Lithuania in a friendly match

Today, the Ukraine futsal team, as part of their preparation for the 2026 Euro finals, played their first of two scheduled friendly matches against the Lithuanian team. Oleksandr Kosenko's wards met with the Lithuanians in Jonava.

Today, the Ukraine futsal team conducted their first of two planned friendly matches against Lithuania as part of their preparation for the Euro-2026 finals.

Coach Oleksandr Kosenko's players met with the Lithuanians in Jonava. The blue-and-yellow team started the match very strongly and were already leading 1-0 on the 33rd second. After a powerful shot by Vladyslav Perveyev, the ball flew into the opponent’s net. Two minutes later, the same Perveyev received a pass from Andriy Melnyk and doubled Ukraine's lead. On the 11th minute, our team executed a perfect counterattack, and Perveyev completed his hat-trick. Two minutes later, Rostyslav Semenchuk scored with a powerful shot from a set play to make it 4-0.

After halftime, on the 24th minute Artem Farenyuk put the fifth goal into Lithuania's net. On the 30th minute Nazar Shved scored another goal from an acute angle, frustrating the Lithuanian goalkeeper once again. Igor Chernyavsky sealed the match with a goal at the 39th minute — 7-0.

The second friendly match against Lithuania will be played tomorrow, September 24. Kick-off is at 19:00 Kyiv time.

As a reminder, by winning six matches in the Euro-2026 futsal qualification round, Ukraine's national team secured their spot at the final tournament which will take place from January 20 to February 7 of next year on the pitches of Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia.

The draw for the final tournament is scheduled for October 24. During the ceremony at «Žalgiris Arena» in Kaunas, four groups with four teams each will be formed. The top two teams from each quartet will then advance to the quarter-finals.

The Euro-2026 tournament will feature 16 participants: Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Ukraine, Spain, Portugal, France, Poland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Armenia, Belarus, and four winners of a playoff involving eight second-best teams.
