Today, September 3rd, the Ukraine U-17 national team (players born in 2009 or later) played their first match at an international tournament in Croatia.

The blue and yellow team, as part of their preparation for Euro 2026 qualification (U-17), faced the Qatar U-18 national team. Coach Oleksandr Sitnik's players scored on their first clear chance. In the 15th minute, after a corner kick from Andriy Hamzyk, Bohdan Levytskyi directed the ball into the goal of the Qatari team. However, at the 28th minute, opponents managed to equalize. Zaid Ktit's powerful shot from a penalty area made the score 1:1. Until halftime, both teams exchanged sharp attacks but failed to score again.

Immediately after halftime, the Ukrainian coach almost completely changed the lineup. The Qatar team immediately created two excellent opportunities, but our goalkeeper Oleksandr Stepanov played well. The Ukrainians responded with a dangerous corner kick from the left flank. Ultimately, however, the decisive moment came in the 80th minute. Defenders of the Ukraine national team made a mistake in the central zone, and this brought victory to the Qatar team — 2:1.

The next match for the blue and yellow team will be on September 6 against Poland U-18 (kickoff at 4 PM).
